Did you happen to catch the St. Patrick’s Day Parade?  If you did, you couldn’t have missed the green truck with the Barney & Bee banners on the side and the groovy gals dressed in their best 70’s get-ups.

I’ve got to tell you, the people LOVED Barney & Bee.  There were people screaming for Barney & Bee.  Of course, many had been drinking, but they still loved us.

Wait ’til you see what we do next!

Welcome Home Cate!

January 20th, 2009

With the opening of “The Dig” last Friday, January 16, Milwaukee will welcomed home one of our favorite superstars, Catherine Lynn Davis.  Davis is a long-time member of The Rep and American Players Theatre acting companies.  She left Wisconsin 10 years or so ago to pursue acting opportunities in Portland, Seattle and Cleveland.

When playwright, Marie Kohler, and director, Norma Salvidar, were brainstorming names of actors to play in “The Dig”, they both thought Cate would be perfect for the role.

Be sure to check out Cate, Brian Robert Mani, Paul Hurley, Josh Aaron McCabe, and Elaine Robinson in Renaissance Theaterworks production of “The Dig”, which runs now through Sunday, February 8.

Who’s That Lady?? I Dig Her! (Get it..the Dig)

January 13th, 2009

It has been 4 years since this fabulous lady has given us a new play.  And come this Friday, January 16 her words will come alive again with her new play “The Dig”.  This is a story about the bonds of love, companionship, trust and protection between siblings.  How will Mattie come to terms with her brothers mental health?  Will they be the same?  How can they?  ”The Dig” takes us on a journey to the past to the events surrounding what happened on an archeology dig that could change a brother and a sister.

“The Dig” opens in the Broadway Theatre Center on Friday, January 16 and continues through February 8.  Tickets are on sale at the center’s box office at (414)291-7800 or at www.r-t-w.com

See you at “The Dig!”

Pink Banana One-Act Festival!

December 18th, 2008

I think I once heard a rumor that professional theatre does little to support the little guys or in this case….the little gals (and one guy we consider a gal) in theatre art. Well, Renaissance is about to punch that rumor in the gut. Pink Banana is serious about theatre and Renaissance saw that in our work and decided to offer us quite the theatre treat: A spot for our annual showcase of one acts beneath their production of Barney and Bee in March. What does that mean for PB??? Wowza! That means our ridiculously grass rootie, poor theatre gets to work in a REALLY professional space with a professional company’s expertise to guide us along into making even better theatre for our audiences!

This collaboration is quite exciting for us and the best part is we have the opportunity to make YOU (yes YOU!) part of this!! In fact, this is why PB exists in the first place. We want everyone who would like a chance to experiment with theatre, whether experienced or not, to have a chance to play with this art form. As long as you are serious, we will do what we can to make theatre happen for you.

If you want in, we are taking submissions until the 1st of January. After that, we are placing directors with scripts and auditioning shortly after that.

Interested??

You should be!

Please check out our website at www.pinkbananatheatre.com and feel free to contact us! Either way, we hope you plan on coming to the show…..you will go bananas for it!

Hugs and puppies and peace and love,
Juanita Cordova, Founder/Producer & Rose Wasielewski, Artistic Director
Pink Banana Theatre Co.
