About the Show

LIVING ROOM CRUISE LINES: A CRUISE IN A BOX, part of IN THE BOX ENTERTAINMENT, is a co-production of Renaissance Theaterworks and Adirondack Theatre Festival. IN THE BOX ENTERTAINMENT is an interactive, zoom-based theatrical experience that is fun for the whole family. Suitable for all ages - bring your whole family to the couch. A Quarantine-friendly activity! 

Set sail for an unforgettable, high-seas staycation on the world’s first ever Cruise in a Box! Your ticket doesn’t just buy you passage on this not-so-nautical adventure, we’ll also be mailing you a special “SHIPment” – filled with everything you’d expect from a luxury cruise liner; plush towels that we’ll teach you to transform into animals for your cabin, ocean-scented candles, a little umbrella to shade your favorite tropical drink, and so much more! Then, you’ll join your Live Virtual Cruise Director who will introduce you to singers, magicians, comedians, jugglers, and more. Or perhaps Shipboard Bingo is more your speed, where you can relax and stamp those bingo cards (which we’ve provided) as the artificial wind blows across your face. It’s an experience you won’t soon forget!

Throughout the cruise you’ll be visiting Cuba, Australia, and Greece. Five different performers from each of those countries (actually in those countries) will greet you:
  • One of the best sand artists in the world who has performed for numerous presidents, popes, and kings.
  • An insanely gifted singer and lead vocalist on many cruises.
  • A comedian and contortionist who has performed on many TV shows.
  • A Canadian magician, the world’s only sleight of hand artist, born without hands. 
  • Jumbles, a champion flair bartender from the UK.

The live Cruise Director will be able to see the audience members at home and speak directly to them through Zoom. There will be interactive, fun activities for the audience members.

Renaissance Theaterworks & Adirondack Theatre Festival are excited to announce IN THE BOX ENTERTAINMENT, a series of live, interactive virtual experiences that entertain audiences from the comfort of their homes. All shows will include a box mailed to the ticket holder prior to the show, which will fuel their at-home, interactive experience. 

Renaissance Theaterworks is thrilled to bring this live, interactive, totally unique theater experience to our audiences! As the weather grows colder and outdoor gatherings prove more difficult, IN THE BOX ENTERTAINMENT offers a fun way to be social – safely. Although this is a bit of a departure from our typical provocative offerings, we are happy to provide an entertaining evening for the whole family.

IN THE BOX ENTERTAINMENT isn’t a consolation prize for not having live theatre; instead, an iteration of live theatre that benefits specifically from being digital. It's not putting our art form on Zoom, it's creating an art form for Zoom.

IN THE BOX ENTERTAINMENT is a care package and love letter all in one for those of us who miss live performance. It is the perfect offering for the pandemic because it is FUN (we all need it), family friendly (so no one needs to worry about getting a sitter) and accessible and safe for all (since it comes to your home!)

  • Purchase only one ticket per household.
  • Maximum purchase: 3 tickets.
  • If you are purchasing tickets/boxes for other households, please email Marketing Director Lucia Lozano at [email protected] to provide your guests' names, mailing addresses and emails so they can receive their box and get admitted to the event on the day of the performance.
